Orthoceras & Ammonite Fossil Sculpture – Freestanding Moroccan Fossil Display, One of a Kind

A striking, one-of-a-kind freestanding fossil sculpture featuring two ancient sea creatures preserved side by side in dark Moroccan limestone. On the left, a long, tapered orthoceras shows its chambered shell in creamy bands that melt into glowing amber-honey at the tip. On the right, a coiled ammonite spirals out of a polished black window surrounded by tiny fossil fragments. The surrounding matrix is hand-carved and textured with white crystalline veining, and the flat base lets it stand upright on its own — no stand needed.

One of a kind — you will receive the exact fossil sculpture shown in the photos.

About Orthoceras & Ammonites: Both are cephalopods — ancient relatives of today's nautilus and squid — that swam the seas covering North Africa roughly 400 million years ago. The orthoceras ("straight horn") had a long, cone-shaped shell, while ammonites coiled into the iconic spiral. Pieces like this come from the fossil beds near Erfoud, Morocco, where skilled artisans carve and polish the stone by hand to reveal the creatures inside.

Metaphysical Meaning

Fossils carry the energy of deep time and are treasured as stones of grounding and transformation. Many people work with them to:

• Ground and stabilize: said to connect you to the Earth's ancient, steady energy.
• Embrace change: the ammonite's spiral is a symbol of continuous growth and evolution.
• Access ancient wisdom: believed to support past-life work and connection to ancestral knowledge.
• Encourage longevity: a reminder of endurance and survival across millions of years.

Together, the straight orthoceras and the spiraling ammonite make a beautiful balance of focused direction and cyclical growth — a meaningful centerpiece for an altar, office, or shelf.

Care

This piece is polished limestone, which is fairly soft and can be etched by water, acids, and cleaning products. Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth and keep it out of damp areas. Display on a stable, level surface so it doesn't tip. Cleanse with moonlight, sound, or smoke.
