About Lapis Lazuli: Lapis lazuli is a rock made mostly of the blue mineral lazurite, with white calcite and golden pyrite mixed in. It has been treasured for over 6,000 years — ground into ultramarine pigment for Renaissance paintings and carved into jewelry and amulets in ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia.
